Ole Miss Shocks The College Football World

The game was supposed to be an Alabama blowout, but nobody told the Rebels that.  Ole Miss opened the game as a 21 point underdog, but instead of rolling over to the national champions, they scored fast with a 75 yard D.K Metcalf touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead. The rebel offense was just as explosive as advertised.

In what was a highly anticipated matchup between Hawaiian quarterbacks Jordan Ta’amu and  Tua Tagovailoa, it was Ta’amu that stole the show throwing for 367 yards and 4 touchdowns.  If the nation didn’t know who Ta’amu was before, they sure do now. As for Tagovaliloa, the spotlight may have been to big for him despite being the hero of the national championship just a couple of months ago.  Tagovaliloa’s three interceptions were the most of his career and proved to be very costly.  Alabama coach Nick Saban made the switch to backup quarterback Jalen Hurts, but the moved was too late as the Ole Miss rebels upset the crimson tide to the tune of a 43-27 victory.

As for the goal post, it has yet to be located but was last seen being carried through the grove by a crowd of crazed Ole Miss fans. Next week, Ole Miss takes on Kent State and Alabama returns home to play Texas A&M.
